SUMMARY

The Corrections Maintenance Technician performs a variety of advanced maintenance, repairs, demolition, and metal fabrication to assure smooth operation of Franklin County Corrections and Justice Centers. Advanced knowledge and skills are required to independently identify and repair both minor and major issues related to electrical and plumbing systems, including the ability to solder copper pipes and rebuild water valves for push button plumbing operation. This position provides general cleaning to ensure the sanitation and maintenance of the Corrections and Justice Centers. The Corrections Maintenance Tech reports directly to the Corrections Administrator, with a dotted line reporting to the Facilities Director. Incumbent must be able to balance priorities and communicate effectively with both supervisors. All tasks are performed with the utmost concern for safety and security at all times.

EXAMPLES OF JOB DUTIES

• Perform troubleshooting and minor and major repairs of electrical wiring, plumbing, and mechanical, often utilizing blueprints and/or maintenance and repair manuals.
• As directed, supervise or instruct inmate workers in achieving assigned responsibilities.
• Inspect facilities for security, safety, needed repairs and takes appropriate action.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.


LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, electrical wiring, fire sprinkler systems and trades related tools and equipment.
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
• Must be able to pass all background screenings as required by the Sheriff, including polygraph testing.
• All maintenance employees will receive, as part of the pre-employment process, PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) training and will be required to complete annual in-service training on PREA. The Franklin County Corrections Center has a Zero-Tolerance Policy for PREA violations.
