The Franklin County Public Works Department is comprised of Accounting and Administrative Services, Road Maintenance and Operation Division, Engineering and Traffic Services Division, Geographical Information Systems Division, Solid Waste Division, and Motor Vehicle and Equipment Division. All divisions are committed to our responsibility to provide safe, economical, and environmentally sound public road facilities and services.

Juniper Dunes Recreation Area Access Road

 

2015-07-29 The Board of Franklin County Commissioners held a public hearing to establish a County road from Pasco-Kahlotus Road to the Juniper Dunes Recreation Area.

 

2015-04-08 - The Board of Franklin County Commissioners held a public hearing on the route preference for a Juniper Dunes access road. The public was afforded opportunity to voice opinions and concerns. At the conclusion of the hearing, the Board concurred with the County Engineer's report that Alternative 2 was the preferred option. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will make the final determination as to the route location.

The Western Federal Lands Division of the Federal Highway Administration, in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management and Franklin County, is planning to construct a public access to the Juniper Dunes Wilderness and off-highway vehicle areas. The project is currently in the early planning stages.

NOTICE OF GENERAL PUBLIC HEARING

 

Adoption of Six-Year Transportation Improvement Program

for 2017-2022

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held by the Franklin County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 9:00 am., or as soon thereafter as possible, at the County Commissioners Chambers at the Franklin County Courthouse, 1016 North Fourth Avenue, Pasco, Washington.

 

The purpose of the public hearing is to review the proposed Transportation Improvement Program for Franklin County for the 2017-2022 period. As part of the Federal Highway Administration’s allocation of funding, each state is required to submit a six-year Statewide Transportation Improvement Plan (STIP). The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) compiles its plan from the regional Transportation Improvement Plans submitted by the local jurisdictions.

 

The Franklin County Transportation Improvement Plan for 2017-2022 covers the anticipated projects for the next six years, regardless of funding source. The first four years of the plan are fiscally constrained. Per Section 36.81.121 RCW, the Board of Franklin County Commissioners will hold a public meeting to consider the proposed Transportation Improvement Plan and hear testimony in favor of or in opposition to its adoption.

 

A Spanish interpreter will be available.  The Commissioners’ Chambers are handicap accessible.  Arrangements to reasonably accommodate special needs, including handicap accessibility or interpreter, will be made upon receiving 24-hour advance notice.  Please contact the Commissioners’ Office at (509) 545-3535.
